Hi.

   I recently posted a message regarding users being disconnected from 
my CLuster after a few minutes.
This is only happening to those using Winlog, so I am not sure if that 
software is posing a problem?
  Anyway, here is a reply that Dirk sent to me.

Yes but you are not using it in a typical way. Very few people that use 
these routers do anything other than "outgoing only" connections. You 
are one of very few (in internet user terms) that are allowing 
unsolicited incoming connections.

Can I suggest that you answer my reply on the support list with the 
above router details. There are a number of people who have had router 
problems and they may be able to say whether they have encountered 
problems with that particular one.

That still sounds like router problems. The thing is that if the reverse 
NAT goes down it simply cuts out all packet flow. TCP/IP at the remote 
end will simply assume that there are no more packets flowing and just 
sit there. Unless the router sends some ICMP for things like 
"disconnected at the remote end" or "sod off, I don't recognise that TCP 
conversation" (not the "official" explanation of the standard ICMP error 
codes, you understand :-) , the remote end will never know that the 
router has torn down the link.

You can buy a BT Voyager ADSL modem, with wireless, for very little 
money even in PC World. I recommend them thoroughly (they are not made 
by BT :-) .

   I have since checked with another local connecting using just Telnet, 
and he stayed connected for several hours
with no problem.  Anyway, if anybody has had problems with the Safecom 
router, I would appreciate your comments.
